Q: Does ABT coordinate care with my child’s Primary Care Physician?
A: Coordination of care between Primary Care Physicians/Specialist and Behavior Health Treatment Clinicians is vital to your child’s progress. Coordination of care occurs at minimum every 6 months; however please update your BHT team of any major medical or physical changes to your child as any major change to your child’s environment may affect their progress.
Q: Does ABT have a waitlist?
A: ABT is currently accepting families who have private health insurance and Medi-Cal. To see a list of insurances that ABT is in-network with, please follow this link. If you have questions regarding Behavioral Health Treatment/ABA coverage through your health plan, email us at Insurance@Accelerationbt.com or call please call 1 (818) 280-9614 to speak with an ABT insurance specialist. Q: What legislation entitles my child to have BHT/ABA services funded by our insurance?
A: SB 946 requires most commercial health plans to provide autism coverage. In addition, the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”) mandates that autism and other developmental disabilities be provided the same protections and coverage as other mental health disorders (i.e. “mental health parity”). Please contact ABT for any question you may have regarding your Health Plan and ABA services. We will be happy to check eligibility for you!
Q: Does my son or daughter qualify for Medi-Cal even though we have private health insurance?
A: It depends. If your son or daughter qualifies for SSI, then they automatically qualify for Medi-Cal. Follow the link to find out more about applying for SSI.
Q: Do I have Co-payments/Co-insurance/Deductible for BHT/ABA?
A: Unfortunately ABT does not control your share of costs. Depending on your health insurance you may have a share of cost. Each health insurance plan is unique. For more information regarding your coverage contact your member services department. ABT may be able to answer any additional questions you have regarding share of cost, please email us at Insurance@Accelerationbt.com or call please call 1 (818) 356-8106 to speak with an ABT insurance specialist.
Q: Am I responsible for my deductibles and co-payments/co-insurance?
A: If you earn more than 400% of the federal poverty level, you may not be eligible for regional center funded co-payment/ co-insurance support unless there has been an extraordinary event, a catastrophic loss or there was a significant unreimbursed medical cost associated with the care of the regional center consumer. Regional center does not pay any portion of your DEDUCTIBLE. Similarly, if you have a secondary insurance, including a Medi-Cal managed health plan (i.e. LA Care, Blue Shield Promise, BC-Medi-cal, Molina) they may cover the cost of your co-payment/co-insurance. Medi-Cal managed health plans also do not cover your DEDUCTIBLE.
Q: What are the next steps to get BHT/ABA services started through ABT?
